1. Eating your favourite ice cream from a bowl or a mug like I usually do can become ordinary very

quickly.

You could add mixes to your ice cream like milo or fresh fruit to change things up a bit, but I’ve always

adored those chocolate dipped ice creams you get when you go to the cinema to see a film.

2. Instead of dipping ice cream into chocolate though, I decided instead to dip some waffle cones I had

sitting about for a few weeks. Who doesn’t love chocolate coated waffle cones?!

PROCESS

Melt the chocolate. (Use a deep bowl wide enough to fit your cones in later). I popped mine in the

microwave on a low setting for 30 seconds, removed it and stirred the chocolate until it was completely

melted. Depending on your microwave, the chocolate may need another 30 seconds.

Allow the melted chocolate to sit for a few minutes to slightly cool. In the meantime, place handful each of

sprinkles, almonds and honeycomb into separate bowls.

Line a large plate or baking tray with some greaseproof paper and set aside.

Take your waffle cone and dip it upside down (pointy side up) into your bowl of melted chocolate. I dipped

my cones so that about 1/3 of the cone would be covered in the chocolate.

Remove the cone from the chocolate and hold it upside down for about 10 seconds allowing excess

chocolate to drip off. The inside of your cone should also be covered in melted chocolate if you do it this

way. Place the chocolate dipped cone onto your tray with the greaseproof paper, pointy side of the cone

up.Allow the cone to sit for half a minute or so until the chocolate begins to settle.

Scatter the nuts, honeycomb or sprinkles over your cone and repeat the process with the remaining

cones.

Once all the cones are done, place them tray and all into the fridge to set for an hour.

You can store them in an air tight container in the freezer for later machies.

Company history

In 1950, founder Ho Shun Tong moved from China to Macau. To make a living for his family in this new

place, he learned handmade cones from a street stall. Hand-making cones earn enough for the family to

a vibrating city, Hong Kong. Ho and his wife, Lai Yuk Mei, rented a shop in Kowloon, which they later

purchased. Ho Hau Ice-creams Cone Co. Ltd was officially registered when spaces in industrial building

were purchased in 1973. Ho Hau became the only cone baker for Hong Kong market later on.

The second generation succeeded the business in the 80’s. Their new thinking, vision and market

opportunities brought Ho Hau cone business into a new horizon. Automation was introduced in production

to increase efficiency and quality. As Mainland China continued its economic reform, Guangzhou Starland

Food Co. Ltd was set up in the 90’s with self-owned land to explore and develop this fast-growing market.

Starland developed its first automatic cone baking machine in the late 90’s with knowledge accumulated

over the decades and various professionals available in China. Auhui Starland Machinery Foods

Machinery Co. Ltd was established in 2005 for grasp the abundant natural and human resources and be

ready to serve the inland market.

For more than half a century, the family members dedicated themselves to do everything about ice-cream
